Modern Eclectic- My New (and Fun!) Statement Boots

One of my favorite types of shoes are boots. I love them because they are casual, versatile, and can transition easily from day to night. I wear them with everything.  As long as the shape and height of the boot work with my look, I'm good to go!

I've been wearing boots for years as a main stay in my wardrobe because I love things to feel casual and effortless, yet at the same time, have an eclectic flare to them. Boots feel grounded to me, so its fun to have pairs that really make a statement to have that contrast but still be able to wear them regularly because the style is casual enough. I tend to gravitate towards pieces with an interesting touch, color, or element that feels special or unique, rather than classic and safe. Of course I have items that are staples for layering, but in general, I don't tend to shop for practicality. I buy items that inspire me to get dressed and feel the way I want to feel, and normally that is something that looks and feels modern with a retro or vintage flair. Something with some character.

When I saw these boots from Rich Cast of Characters, I died because they are soo me! I am drawn to fun, eclectic, quirky, and funky. (In fact I get nervous spending money on investment pieces that aren't fun in some way) They remind me of the 70s, and I am all about that eclectic 70's style so it was a natural fit.   I have also been loving celestial designs for the last couple years so the pink and red stars and lighting bolt mixed with the silver metallic leather make these boots winners. They are show stoppers and I feel so fun wearing them and am so grateful to Rich Cast of Characters for sending them to me, knowing they matched my aesthetic so well.

I always love finding out about new shoe lines that fit my look. Do you guys have any favorites you recommend? I would love to know!

Matiko in Theoule Sur Mer, France

Check out my collaboration with a shoe brand I've loved for over ten years, Matiko. I wore their gorgeous and fun slides and sandals throughout my trip in the South of France.

Hi ladies!

This is my second post of many recapping and posting on my two week trip to Europe that started in the wine region of France. We then made our way south to Cannes, where we stayed in a gorgeous seaside village, Theoule Sur Mer, perched up on a hill overlooking the French Riviera. We got so lucky with our hotel picks, and I will share why and what I loved and could do without  in Friday's post. For today however, I wanted to share about Matiko shoes, a brand I have loved since college for their fun and trendy shoes, specifically sandals. that are well made and so comfortable! I was loving these swedish blue suede slides. I wore them a ton throughout the trip. So easy to slip on and go, and they looked chic and minimalist which was perfect for France.

I only collaborate and wear pieces  from brands I truly love and was so happy to receive shoes from Matiko. They are based in Los Angeles and family run which I love. You may recognize them since they sell their gorgeous leather shoes on some of my favorite sites such as Shopbop. I was so thrilled to collaborate with them because I have been wearing a pair of their sandals since 2006 when I bought my first pair in college. They still look great, 11 years later! I love them still.

I threw on these tie up sandals to head to dinner and love how they are casual but have a little heel to make any look a bit more special. They are so comfortable and the suede is so soft!

I also loved these fun fringe slides and wore them to the pool and the beach everyday. I got so many compliments on them and they really made even the most basic look seem so festive and fun. I try harder with my style on vacation because it just feels so good to me to be in a beautiful place and look pulled together and fashionable. I always say that looking good and putting a little effort in makes all the difference in how you feel, and that is reason enough for me! So much of the time when I'm not running errands, at a casting, or shooting for the blog or work, I am at home editing or working on my computer for the blog. So, getting pulled together everyday multiple times was so fun and made me feel human again! It always amazes me how a cute outfit and a little makeup can make all the difference in how I carry myself and how I feel.

Thank you Matiko for the beautiful shoes, I love them! Click on the items below to purchase or see other great pairs.

Roxanne Assoulin on Holiday X Cluny, France

Check out how I wore my Roxanne Assoulin jewelry on my trip to France, with insights, recommendations, and mini travel guide coming soon!

Hello everyone! I just got back from my trip and had the best time in Cluny France, the South of France, Ireland and Paris! It was the trip of a lifetime and I felt so lucky to be able to see such beautiful places with my sister and get to experience so many wonderful moments together. My sister had a work trip in France and I have been wanting to take as many opportunities to travel as possible since my hubby has seen so much and has little time now to get away with work. So, I decided to be adventurous and meet her! I'm so glad I did. I have seen places that I will visit again and again, and also understood more of places that I feel are overrated and not all they are cracked up to be. I'll share that soon!

In this post, I wanted to share about this jewelry brand I am absolutely obsessed with, Roxanne Assoulin. It is my spirit accessory animal. It's pure fun and I love a brand that can be chic and stylish and not take themselves so seriously while at the same time being great quality. The chokers I am wearing are all hand enameled and heavy duty. I love to stack them and create a really unique and funky look. These chokers make any outfit! I wore them throughout my trip and got so many compliments.

Here I am in Pouilly Fuisse, after wine tasting!

After wine tasting, we headed back to Cluny, a little village that is so quintessential French with cute little apartments and buildings, all in different pastel colors. I am so in love with Europe because of the history and gorgeous character everywhere you look. The dreamy backdrop made for a perfect place to shoot for the blog and showcase this unique and awesome brand. LOVE.

The village here is so old and picturesque, I loved walking around before dinner and checking out the small streets and courtyards. It's definitely a slow paced town with little excitement, but that's the glory of it all. The simple life is appealing and was definitely a nice respite from the long travel day and busyness of Los Angeles where everyone is trying to "make it". There is so much pressure to be something, and be busy, all the time. It was refreshing to come here and see people sit for hours, not check their phones, and be immersed in good conversation with friends. I am guilty of getting caught up in the hustle and desire to be more "successful", so found this to be a magical place to start my trip.

I loved wearing my Roxanne Assoulin pieces throughout my trip, they made every outfit feel special and unique. Check out the pieces below and click on them if you want to purchase, I definitely want to add to my new collection. Im obsessed with it all!

More posts coming over the next couple weeks about my looks throughout the trip as well as a sort of travel diary and guide. Missed you guys!
