All About Accessories

So lately, I have been just a little bit obsessed with color (more than normal) because summer is right around the corner. I am so inspired by all the happy and bright pieces popping up in stores weekly. All of my favorite brands and retailers are rolling out their summer pieces and they are all so effortless and chic, with pops of color and lots of pretty patterns. Isn't it funny how by the time one season ends and the next begins, we're so ready for the change? Come September, I'm begging for knits and heavy coats, but right now, its all about light weight fabrics and bright color palettes. I paired this simple white embroidered top with black cut offs for an effortless look, but wanted it to feel more alive, so layered on some of my favorite (and FUN) accessories. Honestly, the accessories always make the look in my book.  You can have a simple and otherwise mundane outfit, but paired with a vintage scarf and statement earrings, all of a sudden you look put together and fabulous! I am loving these fun statement sunnies by Sonix paired with my handmade Kenyan bracelets, vintage scarf from my grandma, and Gorjana earrings. So when you don't know what to wear, keep it simple and accessorize!

I love how an ordinary outfit can look special and creative simply by adding accessories. With this look I went with a few authentic handmade pieces that my mom and sister brought me home from trips to Kenya and Oaxaca. However, you can easily get the look without going so literal if it's a bit much for you. I added some options below that are more modern versions of the real deal. As you can tell, I love color and patterns so this look is right up my alley. What's your favorite way to accessorize? I'd love to know in the comments below!
